Yes it is true. basic fault lies with IRDA. They allow these companies to alter a Product which was issued crores of policy holders which shows all avalable benefites and premium chart for life time renewal.
But These companis changes some benefits and also change the premium amout and get approval from IRDA. Please Note the approvers in IRDA are ex employees selected out of these insurance companes. On next renewal policy holders get surprised that premium is higher by atleast 10-25% than waht showed to them while taking the policies.
I feel this is one kind of scam by Insurance companies to loot the policy holders,
