Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG consumer (DBTL) is the scheme aimed to improve the subsidy administration of LPG across the country. As per this scheme an LPG consumer will get his/her cylinder at full market price and the differential between subsidized price and full market price i.e. the subsidy will be transferred to his/her bank account upto a capped limit(9 cylinders in a year) .

Following are the key features of this scheme:

  •  Under this scheme, all LPG consumers will start receiving their LPG cylinders at full market price and will get their subsidy directly in their bank accounts upto a capped limit(9 cylinders in a year)of LPG cylinder.
    • To become eligible for this scheme an LPG consumer has to first become CASH TRANSFER COMPLAINT consumer. To become CASH TRANSFER COMPLAINT consumer one has to complete these 3 easy steps, as follows:
      • Received his/her Aadhaar Number
      • Linked his/her Aadhaar number to LPG consumer number.
      • Linked his/her Aadhaar number to Bank account.
    • After completing these 3 steps the Cash Transfer Complaint consumer will start receiving his/her LPG subsidy directly in their bank account.

Cap on subsidised LPG cylinders

Government of India has been providing subsidy on Domestic LPG purchased by Consumers. There has been a change in norms of supply of Domestic LPG effective 14th of September 2012. This was further modified effective 18th January 2013. The number of Domestic Cylinders for which Subsidy can be availed for has now been capped at 9 refills per LPG Connection. More details are given below.

Aadhar number mandatory for EPFO ?

Please find attached a circular by EPFO dated 21.01.2013 making aadhar number mandatory to new members from 01.03.2013 and to existing members in a time bound manner.

And now, after discovering that the UIDAI is organising enrolment camps only in 18 states, the provident fund body decided to withdraw its decision to make Aadhaar number mandatory for all EPFO members

Very recently there was an announcement from the Central Government that the NRI (non resident Indians) will also be issued Aadhaar card which was earlier known as Unique Identification card or UID. This card is being put forth as a national identity and will carry a unique sixteen digit number affiliated to each individual Earlier, the provision of Aadhar card was only for the Indian residents. But now, keeping in view the connection of NRI with the country. the government has added a special provision of issuing this card to the non resident Indians as well The specialty of an Aadhar card is that the number given is connected to the centralized data base. This data base includes biometric demographic and other relevant information. which is necessary for identifying a person.

Aadhaar for LPG Gas Cylinder Connections

The Government of India is launching “Direct Transfer of Cash Subsidy to Domestic LPG customers” in the districts of Amravati, Nandurbar, Mumbai+Suburban, Pune & Wardha of Maharastra State and in the districts of East Nimar (thandwa), Harda & Hoshangabad of Madhya Pradesh State.

All the domestic LPG customers will then get subsidy directly in their Aadhaar linked bank account for 6 LPG cylinders per financial year only, if they provide:

1. Aadhaar Number

2. Link their Aadhaar Number to their Bank Account

If you have an Aadhaar letter and a savings bank account linked to your Aadhaar Number => Go to your LPG Distributor and submit it (for verification carry your Original Aadhaar letter)

If you have Aadhaar letter but do not have a savings bank account linked to your Aadhaar number = > Link your savings account  to your Aadhaar number by visiting your Bank = > Create your Aadhaar Registration Sheet  (as shown in Sample) => Go to your LPG Distributor and submit it (for verification carry your Original Aadhaar letter)


It you do not have your Aadhaar letter
 => Visit the Aadhaar Enrolment center in your area => Get your Aadhaar letter =>  Create your Aadhaar Registration Sheet  (as shown in Sample) => Go to your LPG Distributor and submit it (for verification carry your Original Aadhaar letter)

Addhaar in LPG marketing is expected to improve portability, increase competition, enhance customer satisfaction, streamline subsidy disbursement and reduce subsidy outgo.

1. At the time of enrolment Aadhaar number is validated through biometric and demographic authentication.
2. Customer places a refill request to the distributor through various channels.
3. The refill request is updated automatically or the distributor enters the same in the application.
4. Distributor loads the details of the day’s delivery into a PoS device.
5. The delivery boy carries the PoS device and filled cylinders to customer premises.
6. Aadhaar Authentication request of customer sent to CIDR (UIDAI system).
7. Online verification response from CIDR to PoS device, followed by receipt of empty cylinder, printing of cash memo and collects payment at market price against delivery.
8. The information from handheld device is uploaded into OMCs central system real time.
9. Central server sends a batch file at predefined frequency with Aadhaar Numbers of Customer (beneficiary) and subsidy amount to be paid to Sponsor Bank.
10. Sponsor Bank initiates cash transfer through NPCI Gateway to the bank account of the Customers.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)

What is Aadhaar?

Aadhaar is a 12 digit individual identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on behalf of the Government of India.

This number will serve as a proof of identity and address, anywhere in India.

Any individual, irrespective of age and gender, who is a resident in India and satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI can enrol for Aadhaar.

Each individual needs to enroll only once which is free of cost.

Each Aadhaar number will be unique to an individual and will remain valid for life. Aadhaar number will help you provide access to services like banking, mobile phone connections and other Govt and Non-Govt services in due course.
